February 21st .......

In every man's life, there will be one moment that he will remember until his last breathe. As for me, this moment came on Feb 21st. The night before, I knew that I couldn't be late for tomorrow, as it was the most important day in my life. In wanting badly not to be late, I know that this might sound silly but I had set several alarm clocks to ring one minute apart. I then jumped on the bed hoping to sleep for at least a few hours before my important appointment at six in the morning. However, the anxiety I was feeling didn't allow me to doze off that quickly. After tossing and turning for an hour, suddenly it started to rain heavily outside. The rain didn't take long to cool the environment. I had always loved the rain; it not only makes things sometimes romantic but also cools the space around me whenever I need a good night sleep. The cold weather that the rain induced comforted me to sleep from then on........

Suddenly I woke up feeling as though I had slept too long. I tried reaching for my clock nearby. As my sleepy eyes glanced at the clock in front of me. My heart stopped beating for a while. Damn..... It was ten minutes to six. Not able to think further, I jumped out of bed rushing into the bathroom and got myself ready in a flash. Thank god, the night before I had selected the clothes that were to be worn for the appointment. As I was leaving the front door, my stomach started behaving grumpy. It somehow knew that I was going to skip breakfast as I was already late. However, my fear of being late managed to console it. I ran to the park where I was supposed to meet her. The time now is ten minutes past six. I was about twenty feet away from the bench we were supposed to meet. My eyes started looking for her and stopped soon after spotting her sitting on the bench under the huge tree that faced the lake.

I stopped walking closer to her and cheekily started admiring her beauty from far. Her long beautiful straightened hair was tucked neatly above her left shoulder and the glitters from her left earrings shone like the stars. As she child likely twinkle her toes, her feet could only be compared to be as beautiful as a lotus. The smoothness of her skin matched the smoothness of the silky white dress that she was wearing. The dress also had specially carved fine gold embroiders which gave it a majestic look. However, I felt that the dress only looked beautiful because she was wearing it. She was one of those girls that made her clothing look good when she wore them. As the sun slowly rise to brighten the morning sky, the rays that fell on her gold embroiders created a bright golden aura around her. At that moment, I felt as if I had seen an angel.

After minutes of admiration, I got back to my senses and quickly walked towards her. When I reached the bench I sat next to her with a pity face. She surprised me by smiling as I was expecting a long lecture instead. She placed her right hand gently on my right cheek and asked me if I was hungry. I felt as if I was in heaven as the warmth of her hands penetrated my cheeks. I reacted by gently rubbing my cheeks on her palm. She somehow knew that I had woke up late and was very hungry from the look of my eyes. She then took out an apple from the little white bag she was carrying. As she was handing over the apple to me, not fully aware of myself I accidentally dropped the apple on the ground and it rolled down the hilly slope into the lake. The smile on her face slowly disappeared and she started to look a bit disappointed as she was hoping that I would eat the apple because she had taken a bit on that apple before passing it to me. I didn’t want to make her sad before asking her to marry me. Hence, I went after the apple. As I was sliding down the slope, I tripped and fell into the lake without knowing its actual depth……..

Ahilan ….. Ahilan ….. Ahilan…. I heard the shout of a familiar voice. Opening my eyes, in front of me I saw my brother smiling mischievously. I got up and pinch myself as I couldn’t believe that what seemed so real was just a dream. Many questions gushed through my uncertain mind, as I wanted to believe that there was some truth in dream that I just had. Well, one thing is for sure …. I have woke up from one dream just to enter another ……which will end when I take my last breathe here.
